I’ll start with Food!
I made it all the way to Thailand just to taste the ever famous “mango sticky rice or sticky rice with mango” and Pad Thai. Thinking of them right now makes me drool.
Aside from tasting Thai food, I’ve been longing to see the Lantern Festival. I was very excited the day before my flight going to Chiang Mai ’cause it’ll be my first time to see and experience a scene from the movie “Tangled” for real – where thousands of lanterns will be lighting up the night sky like stars. The kid in me has reacted again.
Before I start my short trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand and talk about my experience about my first Lantern Festival, I wanna highlight the yummy treats I got to taste. From Pad Thai, fresh fruits and milk tea, I want to give them their own space in my journal so that I could look at them over and over again.
Sticky Rice with Mango
Freshly cut mangoes on sticky rice with coconut milk for 60 Baht. One of my favorites. I went for a second in heaven when it landed on my tongue (exaggeration activated). Loved how the sweetness of the mango complements the salty taste of the sticky rice. Best combo.
Grilled Chicken
Grilled Chicken and Rice for 60 Baht at the Street Food Center in Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Vegetable Noodles
Got this healthy noodles at Pavilion Night Bazaar for 40 Baht.
Chicken Satay
Grilled chicken with peanut sauce. This is for 60 Baht at Kalare Night Bazaar.
Pad Thai
Chicken Pad Thai for 120 Baht at the Art Cafe Restaurant. Big serve and delicious. It was worth the price.
Cayenne and Sauces
Cayenne Pepper, my friend. It made every food so good for me. And always for free which is good about it.
Ice Cream
To complement the cayenne pepper aftermath, go with ice cream. So many choices to choose from. I once tried Durian Ice Cream first time. Wasn’t expecting it to be soo yummy.
Durian Ice cream bar for 10 Baht.
Thai Tea
For 25 Baht, I got my Thai Tea. I just loved it!
Fresh Fruits
Strawberry for 10 Baht and Mulberry for 20 Baht. These were freshly picked from the farm near the market in the mountainsides.
There were also fruits being sold at the streets which means it isn’t hard to be healthy in Chiang Mai.
